lighttpd forum lighty > dose modcache must work together with mod_proxy

I just want to let lighty work as a web server with cache, but not a 
proxy.
From the manul, it seems that modcache must work together with 
mod_proxy, is it right?
and, any ideas about other cache mods, mod_expire,mod_mem_cache?
I will try myselt, but,I also appreciate anyone's suggestion.
